Haven't seen a blackbird or a sparrow for years. Then do something about it. Get some wild bird seed from Pet's Beauty Salon on Beech Road. I did, and now the garden is full of squirrels. About 38 pence a kilo.

It must be bad in the countryside when the wildlife has crept upon the city. Foxes seen blatantly walking down Claude Road the other night. Friends have seen them lurking behind the shops on the north side of Beech Road. I don't hear anybody saying let's organise a 'South Chorlton Hunt'. Where we can all rub shoulders with postmen, allotment holders and solicitors. That's what they do when hunting - the various classes rub shoulders. Must be a euphemism for trampling over other people's land and killing critters. The sort of activity you'd go to court for if it wasn't in the countryside.
